As we move through January I find myself reflecting on the journey I’ve had as an artist in 2024. This year was filled with creativity, challenges, and milestones that have shaped my artistic career and personal growth. From opening my very own Etsy shop to painting over 30 gouache illustrations, it’s been a year to remember. Let’s take a walk through the highlights that made 2024 so special.

Opening My Etsy Shop: A Dream Come True

One of the most exciting milestones of 2024 was launching my Etsy shop. This long-awaited step was both thrilling and nerve-wracking, as it meant sharing my art with the world in a whole new way. From designing my shop banner to writing product descriptions, every detail felt like a small celebration of my creative journey. The shop opened with a selection of 4 printable art instant downloads; which included 5 pears, red flowers, giant strawberry, and orange checkered coffee cup.

Painting 30+ Gouache Illustrations: A Year of Creativity

This year, I pushed my creative boundaries by painting over 30 gouache illustrations, each with its own story and inspiration. My Nature’s Tiny Wonders insect collection was a standout project, inspired by nature and decorative patterns. From bright wings to floral patterns, it was a joy to bring these tiny wonders to life on paper.

Some illustrations were spontaneous bursts of inspiration, while others were carefully planned pieces that challenged my technical skills. Each painting taught me something new – whether it was mastering color blending, experimenting with textures, or simply embracing imperfections.

Challenges and Lessons Learned

Not every goal went as planned. I set out to create 100 gouache paintings this year, but life had other plans, and I completed just over 30. While I didn’t hit my target, I’m proud of the growth those pieces represent. Each one reflects a part of my journey as an artist, and I’ve gained valuable experience and confidence through the process.

Similarly, my Etsy shop, though an amazing milestone, hasn’t made any sales yet. It’s taught me that starting a small business requires patience, persistence, and a willingness to adapt. I’m using this time to expand on my digital marketing knowledge and how to reach my ideal audience.

This year also threw some unexpected challenges my way, like having to replace my laptop. While it was a hurdle, it reminded me of the importance of investing in tools that support creativity, and my goals. These challenges didn’t stop me; they became stepping stones for growth.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As I look ahead to 2025, I’m filled with excitement for what’s to come. I plan to explore new themes in my artwork, expand my Etsy shop with fresh designs, and continue building my online presence. Collaboration and community will also be key focuses as I strive to connect with more like-minded creatives.
